No Game, No Life is a comedic semi-adventure anime which follows Sora and Shiro, a brother and sister duo of NEETs (Not involved in Education, Employment, or Training), who form an unbeatable gaming team known as “Blank”. Because of their amazing prowess at games, they are eventually invited into a world of games by the god of gaming himself. In this world, all wars (and killing, in general) are forbidden and all disputes must be settled by games.
Sora and Shiro find themselves quite at home in this new world, rapidly rising though the ranks to become rulers of the humans (the lowest ranked class) because of their unbeatable gaming skills. It’s a lot of fun to watch the duo solve games and puzzles together and face increasingly formidable opponents. It’s a tale any gamer could identify with, and it’s kind of cool how the main characters accept their new world instead of focusing on how to get back home.
I will say that there’s quite a bit of weird fanservice and some kinda ecchi brother-sister moments that might make watching with younger siblings (in particular) a bit uncomfortable. But if you can overlook those distractions, the anime itself is absolutely beautiful, making great use of a unique color palette. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much hot pink used in an anime, and I watch a lot of romance 💖 It’s a real treat to look at the colorful animation.
There is only one season so far, but it certainly looks like there will be more. You can find it on Crunchyroll. Enjoy!
